From the intersection of highway #1 and highway #40 turn left and head south on highway #40. Proceed for 50 kilometers on highway #40 and turn right on Kananaskis Lake Trail. Drive 12.5 kilometers on Kananaskis Lake Trail and turn left into the Upper Lake Day Use area and continue 900 meters to the southern most parking lot closest to Upper Kananaskis Lake.

The above is correct, if you don’t screw up. We did the hike from the right and completely missed the turn, so instead we went straight and ended up at some campground … the entire hike took over 20k and 6 hours. Needless to say, we were a bit upset and incredibly sore when we were finally done.

It was a gorgeous day, warm and sunny with lots of people about. I can’t speak for everyone else, but I ended up looking like a lobster by the end of the day.
