The weather here has been gorgeous. Yesterday, after my much needed coffee, we headed over to the Winery and to a Mead place. The Winery was very nice and because I am a wino from way back, I really enjoyed the different types we got to taste … and before anyone asks – YES, I bought a few bottles of wine. After, we found the place they make Mead and although I am not that much into Mead, it wasn’t that bad, and before anyone asks – YES, I bought a bottle of Mead. The real purpose of going was to pick out some Mead for my friend Mona – we got you a couple of bottles that was on your list.
After spending all my money on alcohol … we arrive back at CK’s parents where I spent some time in the back yard, suntanning and reading … a really quiet afternoon. At around 4pm or so, we (CK, myself and the parents) wandered over to a Beach for a little swimming in the ocean. The water was amazing and really quite warm … there is a few things I learned while at the beach (or remembered after it was too late) … 1. I can’t snorkel worth S&%T and 2. while diving into the water, I realized, after a mouth full of water, that it is salt water. Yes, I knew that, duhhhh.
After we got back, we BBQd the steaks we brought from Calgary (actually, CK BBQd them, I really quite happy to watch). We enjoyed a really great meal. You see, CK’s Mom is a vegetarian and CK’s Dad is too, but not by choice … so you can imagine how happy he was when he saw all the meat.
After dinner, CK and I went for a nice long walk to burn off some of those calories. I went to bed early as it was a long and wonderful day … there is something about the air out here. Life out here is very different than the city, it is very laid back.
After another great sleep, I got up early to go for a bike ride. As this is the long weekend and a holiday today, the roads were very quiet. When I got back, my body was telling me with no uncertain terms, that it required coffee, so I quickly had a shower and got ready. CK and I went back to my new favourite place for coffee (sorry Starbucks, you have have some competition) and wandered around a bit … there is no shortage of what you can see on this Island. CK wanted to show me the Provincial Park where there is a nice 5k hike over to where the Bluffs are … what an amazing hike – took lots of pictures.
We ended up back at CK’s parents for some lunch and now waiting for another 1/2 hour or so before we head back off to the beach. We are hoping that the water is calm enough for some snorkelling as yesterday, the wind was bad enough that you couldn’t see anything.
Everyone keeps telling me that there are no sharks in these waters, I keep telling them, they don’t know me well enough. If there is a shark with a 100 mile radius, it will find me.
mmmmm…. Mead I love Mead. It sounds like a wonderful place. You have found a place better than Starbucks… do tell! You are going to be do relaxed when you get back.
Izzy & Spencer are now named… Trouble 1 & Trouble 2. I think with all the playing around going on Izzy is loosing some of her belly.
Keep having fun you guys!
