OMG…my last day, I cannot believe two weeks has already gone by.
I spent the morning getting the last of my stuff packed up and enjoyed watching Men In Black 2. We left the house around 2:30pm to make the drive to Bonn. Once we arrived, we immediately went to Haribo – the Gummy Bear factory – a little history…
Haribo (pronounced /ˈhærɨboʊ/ HARR-i-boh) is a very popular and well-known confectionery producer, founded in 1920 in Germany by Hans Riegel Sr. The company headquarters are in Bonn and the name is an acronym for Hans Riegel, Bonn.
After Hans Riegel Sr. died during World War II, his son, also named Hans Riegel, took over the company. Haribo expanded its operations taking over many local sweet manufacturers in countries all over the world.
Today, Haribo is the biggest manufacturer of gummy and jelly sweets in the world, with its products mainly consisting of Gummi Bears, other jelly sweets and liquorice. There are five factories in Germany and 13 throughout the rest of Europe. There are sales offices in almost every country in Europe as well as in the United States.
Needless to say, I was a little overwhelmed when I entered. I, of course, didn’t leave without buying a little something. I DID have a little tiny room in my suitcase.
We later when to Jennifer and Martin’s to wait for Jens as we had reservations at the Chinese Restaurant boat. This was REALLY good chinese food and by the end of it, I had to be wheeled out. I think I won’t be eating for a week.
We, Martin, Jennifer and myself, ending the evening with a nice bottle of Pinot Grigio. We have to get up at 5:30am so we can make the drive to Frankfurt…my flight is at 9:50am with Lufthansa (this time I am sure and Jennifer can confirm) and I arrive in Calgary at 11:30am.
See everyone very soon

So by now, I guess you should be nearly there. Hopefully this time you did NOT have any screaming children on the plane, did you? After we left the airport, we were a little bit worried whether your plane could start in time because of all the fog. We didn’t even look at the departure times…
And I still can’t get over the HUGE amount of money that you had to pay extra for your luggage. It’s just inbelievable how Lufthansa can charge so much!!!
Okay, so let us know that you arrived home safe!
