Day 9…shopping in Aachen

So we shopped a little today…

We left for Aachen at 1:30pm as would take about 1 hour to get to there; Jennifer took the train from Bonn and we were meeting her at the train station. She arranged to have this week off from work so at least I get to spend a little time with her.

We hit a large market place filled with lots of stores…of course I did a little shopping. I fell in love with a store call Bijou-Brigitte which sells Jewelry made in Germany – really wonderful stuff and not that expensive. There was also a catherdral that was close by…we got to explore and take pics.

We later hit the Lindt factory – man, my eyes went wide with amazement and delight. So much goodness in one space at a fraction of the price. After filling up the shopping cart and trying to figure out how I was going to get it all home, Jennifer says to me ‘don’t forget, we still have to go to the Gummy Bear factory’ (which is in Bonn), I almost fell over…I have no idea what I am going to do.

We got home around 7pm or so and had chicken salads. We (Jennifer, Brigitte and I) spent time after supper explaining to Herbert about designer brands and WHY women need 20 handbags and 50 pair of shoes – honestly, I don’t think he gets it — sad :(.

We ended the evening with the BC Chardonnay I brought from home and a brandy we got from Dernau – I swear the brandy gets stronger and stronger with every taste.

Tomorrow we are going to another city where there is a train that, instead on travelling on a track, it sits above the ground and seems like it flies through the air.

Good Nite
