We got up this morning knowing it was our last day in Venice. After breakfast, we thought we could get a few hours of shopping in before we had to leave for the train station. We shopped a bit, bought a little bit more (seriously, both of us need to buy another suitcase in Rome) and had our last Gelato in Venice. We got back to the B&B to grab our suitcases and to say fairwell to our host, Lorenzo. The brave man carried our luggage down (almost threw his back out) and gave me the biggest hug I have ever had in my life, apparently, he squeezed Stacy just as hard. We got pics…they will be posted.
We made it to the waterbus station and onto the waterbus with no problems…however, a little old lady yelled at Stacy in Italian because she wasn’t moving fast enough by getting her luggage out of isle. I saw the looked in Stacy’s eyes…the little old lady almost got her ass kicked.
We got to the train station, had a little to eat and just waited for our train. The train ride itself was very nice, very comfortable chairs, we both fell asleep. We met a couple from Red Deer County who are living in Rome for two years due to work. The gave us each a Metro ticket and guided us to where the taxis were…after seeing our luggage, he suggested that the taxi would be the best way to go, we would not be able to manover our luggage on the Metro or Bus. YES – our luggage is that big and heavy. They provided us with a few bits of valuable information and then after thanking them, we parted ways.
After a very scary ride in the taxi (my therapist will be quite busy with me), we made it to the B&B. It is the home of a couple with just two additional rooms – one double and one single…really quite charming. Our plans were just to stay in and take it a bit easy…tomorrow is our Rome in One Day & Coliseum Walking Tour, looks like it will be another busy day.
