Day 1: 33 hours & counting…

We have arrived safe and sound & have had an awesome first day. However, since neither one of us really slept during the flight, we have been up for about 33 hours.

I would totally recommend flying Lufthansa and here’s why:

1) Hot towelettes for your hands before your meal – really quite delightful.

2) The Toblerone bars they hand out to all of the passengers.

3) The great German beer I had with my meal and the cognac I enjoyed after lunch (at no extra charge).

We hit the Autobahn as soon as we left the Frankfurt airport and one of the first cars that blew past us was a Lamborghini, going at least 240 km/hour.

We spent our first day touring the city of Bonn, including an afternoon cruise down the Rhine. We happened to find a square where the locals were exuberantly celebrating the last day of Oktoberfest. Also, we saw the house where Beethoven was born. Oddly enough, our first meal in Germany was pizza & pasta at an Italian restaurant a couple of blocks from Selena’s cousin Jen’s house. We finished our day sampling German wine at Herbert & Brigitta’s (Jen’s parents) house. Tomorrow, Herbert has a special German beer for me to try. I’m looking forward to it.

We will hopefully post some pictures tomorrow.

Guten nacht,

stace

Glad to hear you both made it safely. Sounds like a pretty full and fun first day.

So glad you had a good trip there. Everything sounds great so far. You two are going to be exhausted after your first day 🙂 Get lots of rest and looking forwards to hearing about that beer. Take Care & Good Night
